Medicare coverage

Two approaches. Different considerations.

Understand the structural differences between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement / Medigap.

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is a private-plan way to receive your Medicare benefits. The insurer administers coverage, and network, referral and authorization rules can apply. Many plans include Part D drug coverage.

Medicare Supplement / Medigap

Medigap works alongside Original Medicare to help with certain out-of-pocket costs. It is not a replacement for Original Medicare and is not a PPO. Prescription drug coverage is generally arranged separately through Part D.

Enrollment rights matter

Medigap open enrollment and guaranteed-issue rights are different from Medicare Advantage election periods. Moving from Medicare Advantage to Medigap later may involve medical underwriting unless a protected right applies. Ask Scott about your timing before making a change.

No universal answer

Neither approach is universally right for everyone. Scott can explain the relevant considerations personally. This page adapts the supplied comparison handout while omitting product-benefit and cost claims from the public website.
